A downloadable game

Here's a small stepping-stone project of mine! Made for Beregon's RPG Maker Themed Jam #1 with the intent refining my plugins and familiarizing with conditional turn-based battle systems.

Controls:

Arrow Keys: Move
Z: Confirm / Examine
X: Cancel / Menu

Features:

  • Between two to three hours gameplay
  • Conditional Turn-Based battle system
  • Simple platforming mechanics
  • Five party members:
    • Harold, his two friends, a random mercenary and "that guy".
  • Choose between five possible endings!
  • You can make dumb decisions too!

Known issues:

  • The game does not inform you that all buffs and debuffs last indefinitely until the battle ends, and stacks infinitely.
  • Turn order prediction does not currently support previewing how states affect turns
  • Background music not properly playing in certain maps
  • Battle actor arrow sprites renders the full spritesheet on the first frame

Any chance for an Android port? Would be great!

There are game features which do not work with a touchscreen. Sorry

Maybe I am missing something, but I cannot find anyway to get Fred past the gargoyles without coming within three tiles of them.

Are you playing with mouse controls? There doesn't seem to be an intuitive way to walk while moving with mouse. With keyboard controls, walking and running is controlled with the shift key.

The key is to not run within three tiles within the gargoyles. Walking is fine

Thanks. I was playing with keyboard, but had Always Dash on.

Holding shift with Always Dash on should slow your character to your walk

Wish I had remembered that. I just tried to remember to turn it off in the menu while passing statues and sometimes forgot. I prefer to keep it on because my knuckles are prone to having issues if it's not enabled.

Thanks you for your help. I enjoyed the story and the unique battle skills.
